Heirloom Tomatoes / Heritage Tomatoes UK

Our heirloom tomatoes / heritage tomatoes are growing well. 62 main plants so far and more establishing. A variety of types to experiment and learn which ones grow well, abundance of fruit, fruit flavours, sizes of fruit, colours of fruit and so on. Support structures are our current challenge. We went down a route of using natural fibre string and have now noticed it rotting out due to the damp compost. The intent was to steer away from plastic string, but sadly it hasn’t worked very well. So the intent going forward is to use polypropylene string or bamboo bound together. Not sure if these options feel sturdy enough but we are where we are! Next season we need a more sturdy solution.
