Chillies - Chilli Seeds and Chilli Plants - Growing in the UK
Early Days! Growing a wide range of chillis from seeds. All inside the hoop house / poly tunnel.
From chillis with no heat to chillis that are very hot. We have the early signs of chilli plants bursting into life. Using pots and some directly planted in the ground, all inside the hoop house / poly tunnel. No doubt we are a little late, but he hoop house / poly tunnel has no heating and the days and nights have been colder than expected.
Our understanding is that the chilli seeds and chilli plants like a temperature of 20-25 degrees celsius in the daytime and 10 degrees minimum in the night time. So hopefully we are getting to a more productive period in the UK without the need for adding artificial heat. Temperatures are picking up as we enter May 2024.
We are now planning to plant up more pots so that we can manage the large numbers of chilli plants. Some will be great for seed harvesting, some for processing into chilli sauces and some for plants that can be for sale.
